The M310 Grenade Launcher or simply known as the Grenade Launcher, is a single shot grenade launching system that was the predecessor to the M319 Grenade Launcher. It was used extensively in Lumoria against raiding Covenant forces.

Overview & Background

The M310 Grenade Launcher is a Break-action, breech-loading grenade launcher used by the United Nations Space Command as the primary antipersonnel weapon against the Covenant. The Grenade Launcher fires a single 40mm grenade which could bounce on the first impact before detonating on the second. This - like the M9 Fragmentation Grenade - allows the user to fire and hit targets at an awkward angle.

Like its successor, the M310 Grenade Launcher has two firing modes: the first mode is a normal direct fire where the user launches the grenade as per normal. The second turns the grenade into a proximity mine; with a prolonged squeeze on the trigger, the user could delay the grenade's detonation timer and extend it, creating a trap in intense firefights.

In contrast to the Brute Shot, the Grenade Launcher is much more powerful, although it cannot rapid-fire like the Brute Shot and its grenades do not detonate on impact.

Gameplay Information

Advantages

• The Grenade Launcher could propel its projectile at an unorthodox angle and hit targets behind cover.
• The Grenade Launcher can reliably clear a crowd and become a replacement for the Frag Grenade.
• Unlike the Grenade Launcher attachments found on the Battle Rifle and the Assault Rifle, the player could fire both the Grenade Launcher and throw their own grenades at the same time.
• The grenades can be turned into a mine, servicing a nasty trap for unsuspecting enemies.

Disadvantage

• The Grenade Launcher is a single shot, making it a poor weapon in enclosed spaces and close-quarters firefights, the chances of injuring or killing either yourself or an ally is high.
• Poor aiming would make the Grenade Launcher backfire literally as the projectile could ricochet back at the user.
• The Grenade Launcher is useless against aircraft.
